ME
A career changer seeking a path to sustainability following 10 years in oil & gas exploration. Particular interests centre on Regenerative Agriculture practices, broad acre permaculture design & coastal sailing.
THE FARM
An Caora Dubh Farm consists of approximately 120 acres spread across 5 sites which lie along the Derryveagh mountain chain in central Donegal. These upland sites receive up to 2,400 mm of annual rainfall (average annual precipitation: 1,940 mm) & lie between 80m & 300m above mean sea level.
Traditionally used as sheep pasture, the aim is to build a sustainable & viable business upon the existing farming model by diversifying product streams & obtaining multiple yields while working with nature rather than against it.
THE VISION
- Regenerate existing pasture through Holistic Management & Agroforesty practices.
- To investigate the effectiveness of innovative land management techniques in our wet, temperate climate.
- To document my own journey in permaculture & regenerative agriculture practices.
