ME
An engineer by profession, I spent 10 years in oil & gas exploration before turning attention toward this project. My particular interests centre on regenerative agriculture practices & woodland management.
THE FARM
Nestled in the Derryveagh mountains, central Donegal, An Caora Dubh Farm consists of 117 acres over 5 sites. These upland sites receive up to 2,400 mm of annual rainfall (average annual precipitation: 1,940 mm) & lie between 80m & 300m above mean sea level.
Each site requires a bespoke approach due to the wide variation in aspect, topography & soil types across this diverse & challenging landscape.
THE VISION
- Regenerate existing pasture through the practice of Holistic Management.
- To diversify farm production through complimentary animal systems, agroforestry & increased native woodland cover.
- To further the discussion of meeting human, ecological & financial needs in rural Ireland via regenerative approaches.
